community healthFor making health services available to rural people, MSS ran Abhinav Swasthya Kendra (unique health centre) in 12 unserved and remote villages in Fatehpur district. The health workers of the organisation organised a number of camps in the villages to impart health related information to the villagers and methods of prevention from different infectious diseases.

General health services were provided at the centre by male and female doctors and serious cases were referred to Fatehpur District Hospital. Pregnant women and children were specially provided all the services to ensure safe deliveries and immunisation of children in 0-1 year age group.

Another intervention targeted at pregnant women and children was carried out in 10 unserved and remote villages in Farrukhabad district under Regional Investment Programme. This intervention included pre- and post- delivery health check-up, child immunisation, adolescent health education and family planning related efforts.

An Adolescent Girl Education Programme was taken up in urban areas of Kanpur city, Moradabad, Jhansi, Agra and Meerut districts to impart personal hygiene and reproductive health related information and counselling to nearly 200,000 adolescent girls studying in government and recognised girls schools.
