Goal

Empowering the urban poor inhabitants (federation members) to lead a dignified life

Objectives

• To strengthen the urban poor alliance by facilitating at least 20 committed morcha leaders
• To enhance the capacity of the women committees and prepare a core group of around 25 leaders

Main Activities

• Formation of basti level and women committees in five slums
• Intensive membership for the morcha
• Enhance capacity of the women committees and prepare a core group of around 10 leaders
• Interface with media/academic/administrative/intellectual people and local body members
• Ensure access to ration cards as the basic document for eligibility to government schemes
• Important day celebration, poster exhibition, exposure visits, workshops, endeavours as an act of solidarity

Indicators of Success

• Regular meetings
• At least 40 per cent of women population in slums become members of the morcha
• Women leaders become equipped with relevant information and take initiatives
• Number of members who get ration cards issued
